With the incidence of childhood obesity on the rise comes increased study and development of intervention programs to prevent obesity in children. A recent study has investigated family-related factors and their link with childhood obesity in preschoolers aged 4-6 years. The study reports that both parental income in addition to low emotional support from grandparents were associated with severe obesity. The study suggests that support from grandparents may be an important factor in preventing against childhood obesity.
