A new documentary exposes the dangers of added sugar, hidden within so-called ‘healthy’ foods. The documentary follows an Australian actor who begins consuming ‘healthy’ foods that contain high amounts of sugar, such as granola bars, cereal, yogurt, juice, and sauces. For 60 days the actor consumed a total of 40 teaspoons of added sugar daily, causing him to gain weight and feel terrible. In all, the actor gained 6.8kg and 10cm of visceral fat during the 60-day period. In addition to weight gain, the actor reported mood swings, headaches, and feeling anxious, due to the sugar highs and lows. “Once I stopped the experiment and went back to drinking water, eating real foods as much as I could, shopping the perimeter of the supermarket, all my symptoms reversed in 60 days,” he said.
